I think I like and admire your portraits a lot more then your landscapes and perhaps this is a good illustration why. Your portraits always have something to tell and can be extremely alive. This photo looks extremely empty. And sure, it's a wonderful landscape and it looks like it would make for great hiking and I'd love to visit. But photography, as you know from your awesome journalistic photography, is more then that. I like every photograph to tell a story or to be dynamic in some way. It needs to go beyond looking at something. So I'm actually surprised that you did not find a more interesting angle in this landscape, something creative to draw us into the frame. There doesn't seem to be much composition except for the lines of the horizon and the (somewhat awkwardly framed) hill in the front. So what caught your eye here? What is it that you want to show us? Your portraits can always show us so much, so perhaps you can delve into that same energy with a landscape. And I know it's much harder to give vision or meaning to something that you can't literally communicate to. But I think that's what your challenge is here. Good luck with it. I know you can do it
