It's pretty hard getting back into digital photography. In fact, yesterday I picked up my Canon 400D again for the first time in months. I used to love digital photography, especially going completely random places and take completely random photos. When I started taking analogue photos, I also started paying a lot more attention to the concepts and ideas behind the photos. Not only are analogue photos per definition a limited medium, in the sense that you have only so much film on a roll and every shot is a photo forever. The careful planning that comes with analogue photography can be a blessing and a curse. While I believe that many of my photos would have a significantly lesser value if they weren't planned as much, I am also beginning to see that the necessity of ideas can be an obstacle to making art. Especially if you have the strange idea that every concept must be absolutely new and perfectly planned and executed. An example of this is that I have a certain prop sitting on my table for almost a year, waiting for the ideal shoot.

Fortunately, all this does not mean I have lost interest in photography or art. Or even digital photography, it seems. My good friend ~Samuran, a somewhat more impulsive spirit, wanted to film some tigers for an artproject and decided I would be ideal to help drag the equipment around the zoo. In the meantime, I brought my (still fairly unused) digital SLR with the intention to take some shots of anything interesting we might come across. I never really liked photographing animals on account that they are very unpredictable and move around a lot. But a digital camera is ideal for such situations. I took about 80 photos, mostly tigers and a strange bird. You can find them on my account for digital works, ~ZeroScape. You can find them right here, on this very account. See more recent journals for more information.

On another note, some might have read my newsarticle regarding the deviantArt community Supporting and informing deviants near you and I really hope more people will start to use this community for what it's supposed to be used for. A large deal of what I (want to) do with my work is thanks to this community and the way it works. That means not only learning technological or conceptual elements through comments, tutorials and the like, but also learning from the rich source of professional and semi-professional artists inside this community. Or even artists who are in no way professional. One important thing to remember about this community is that it is the biggest collection of art and artists the world has ever seen. That means it is a wealth of information for anyone with any sort of interest in any sort of creative enterprise. Use that wealth. Share it. Everything can be helpful to anyone sometime somewhere.
In that light, I'd also like to point out that the *DA-Networking group is growing steadily. It is only one of many initiatives that can proof very useful in the future.
