So if you are not an artist, kindly leave.
If you like art, if you are interested in what other people make, fine. If you are a beginning artist, who wants to create and learn how to express and communicate and feel through the medium of your choice, this is the right place. We are all here to learn and we all started out staggering, falling and nobody made a masterpiece first time trying.
But if you are here because your friends are here, because you feel that having an account on this site makes you cool and coolness is all you really care about, don't bother. Most people will hate you, ignore you, or on a bad day, yell at you.
And if your idea of art is pressing 'print screen' while playing your over-merchandised computergame, or applying a photoshop-filter to your webcam photo, don't bother. We; which means I and the other people reacting in a positive way to this article, do not want you here at all. If we could, we would personally delete your account. And preferably disable your connection to the internet. If it were in our power, we would throw you out of your parents' basement so you could finally enjoy some sunlight.
Don't get me wrong, we would love to teach you how to become an artist, because that is what this site is about. But first you must understand that this site is not about how many pageviews you have. Not even about how many people yelled "LOL" as a comment to your 'deviation'. And it is certainly not about having a big friendslist as a compensation for underdeveloped reproductive organs.
Once you've got that down...

WELCOME TO DEVIANTART
A small light
Just yesterday I stumbled across this little beauty and found out that browsing deviantArt in the lost moments that one might check ones cellphone randomly is more then a little entertaining.
As you might have noticed, my good resolutions of coming 'back into the fold' hadn't quite held up. I have good hopes that this app will make me stick around just a little bit longer.
For now, I'll work on more updates and try to add more of my fellow deviants to the old watchlist. Suggestions for those are more then welcome.
Into the fold
After a long absence, I am starting to return to this community. As some may know, I was disappointed with deviantArt as a company and community. I still feel that both do not live up to their potential, of which I have already said a lot in all sorts of posts. What I did not realise, was that I wasn't doing very much to achieve that potential either. I feel the need to be taken seriously in my artistic expression perhaps a bit more so then the majority of voices on dA, but it never really went anywhere. It never really went further then anything that would have required serious effort and conviction on my part.
I have learned that if you re
Borderlands and other people
One of the best things about making art or possibly about every sort of communication, is that it's yours. It comes from your hands, your mouth or your head. Not everyone might understand with what you're doing and even understand it in the way you intended it, but it does reflect your personality with it. Or so it should. The hard part is to find out what that personality is. There is a reason that people go 'soul-seeking'. We're all pretty sure that we have a soul, but generally have no idea what that is, exactly. In some extend, we don't even really understand who we are ourselves. This might be a reason why we roam around in groups, citie
Heroes
Do you have heroes? I do. Loads of them. Writers or filmmakers or musicians or even maybe you. We all need heroes, people to look up to and admire. They are our examples and the ones we love. The connection we have to our heroes is a strange one, because of the unevenness in the relationship. I've talked before, I think, about my desire for equality in relation to my fellows. I really like to be able to communicate with people, no matter who they are or what they've done. Everyone is interesting and everyone has a story to tell. Maybe I am becoming a journalist because of that. Because I want to know the stories of people.
But when you tell
